Day 1: Cusco & Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Tambomachay
Morning arrival to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca empire. Morning free for adjust to the altitude. This afternoon tour the nearby ruins including the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman; Kenko, the amphitheater and religious center; Tambomachay, the Inca Baths and center of worship to the water god; and finally Puca-Pucara the red fortress built to protect Tambomachay. Then return to Cusco to visit the colonial city with its beautiful streets, the Cathedral and the Koricancha, a beautiful example of Inca architecture.
Day 2: Cusco / Pisac / Ollantaytambo / Cusco
This morning depart for a full-day trip to visit the colorful Indian market at Pisac and the ancient fortifications at Ollantaytambo. Lunch at local inn. Afternoon return to Cusco or as an option request an overnight at a local hotel in Ollantaytambo or Yucay Valley.
Day 3: Cusco / Machu Picchu / Cusco
After an early breakfast transfer to the station to board the train to the magnificent ruin of Machu Picchu, one of the architecture jewels from the Incas. This impressive site known as “Lost City of the Incas ” is surrounded by precipitous mountains and was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. After lunch return to Cusco by train and transfer to your hotel.
Day 4: Cusco
